In December of 2003 my husband and I decided our lives weren't topsy-turvy enough and leapt into the exciting world of home ownership by buying a condo (which is about all a young couple in the NoVa/DC area can afford). I have never signed so many papers or jumped through so many hoops in all my life, yet the idea of decorating my own home thrilled me. Sure, I couldn't go anywhere without checking my hair for paint and the guys at Home Depot learned my name, but in the end it was worth it -- I fell in love with my decorating scheme and my husband learned to like it. Plus, owning your own place feels so "adult."
